December Favorites

It's that time of the month again.  And no I don't mean Flo has come to town.  It's time for my December Favorites!  I mixed it up with some beauty, foodie, and household goodies.  Variety is the spice of life!  Or some ish like that.

Before I get into the video and items yes that picture is badly photoshopped.  Hey, at least I own it.  My eyes are irritated and I had to whiten the crap out of them.  I need to stop falling asleep with my contacts on.  major fail.  My eyes look like their glowing.  I don't care though because it looks better than pink eye.  And no, I do not have pink eye.  I don't think.  Ew.  My body hates me.  At least that's what I tell myself now that I got fat and fluffy after the holidays.

Happy 3rd Birthday Damian!!!!

I can't believe my baby boy is THREE today.  Not to sound cliche but I feel like I was pregnant just yesterday.

Just look at this picture when he was fresh out the oven.

Time is really flying by.  I love that he still likes to be held like a baby, even if he's over half my height already.

My coconut was already a lady killer before he was one.

The man a few months shy of two....

How can you not fall in love with his personality and that sweet face?

Stud.

My coconut has grown up to be one dapper dude.  I'm going to have major problems when he's a teenager.  Heartbreaker alert!

Happy 3rd Birthday Coconut!  I love you so much!

The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year!

I hope everyone had a beautiful Christmas!  Pat and my friend, Tyler, came to visit for Christmas.  The day was spent at home, wine, champagne, and cooking in the kitchen.  I made a Thanksgiving feast for Christmas since we're not pork eaters.  It was delicious, but I think I might try to take on Prime Rib next year.  Maybe.  Probably not.  But maybe.

I couldn't find the charger for my Canon Rebel, so most of my photos were from my iPad.  Which by the way was new.  Translation: Mommy finally got her own (new and shiny) iPad, and Damian officially has his own iPad.  My first iPad was practically his anyway.  It was filled with learning apps and books for him.  Oh yeah, and the fact that he wouldn't let me touch it.  Kids these days.

The coconut loved his gifts!  It was a soon-to-be 3 year old's heaven.  His birthday is tomorrow and he's gonna be stoked.  We're taking him to Disney On Ice at TD Garden this weekend.  I think I'm more excited than he is.  Until he sees his favorite characters in person.  We all know he's going to freak - in a good way.

We definitely rocked onesies.  Don't judge.  Tip for you: don't sleep in it.  I got the worst wedgie.  Ever.

Check out my little pirate! He insisted on wearing his Jake costume for Christmas

MUAH

Damian loves his Uncle Tyler

Look at this sexy beast of a machine!  Pat and his family chipped in to get me the big Kahuna instead of the smaller one I was looking at.  Squeal!   I am so excited to own a Kitchen Aid mixer.  Now if only I could find the space to store it.  Meh, details.  Who cares.  It is going to be well used.  I have to say this machine is my most prized kitchen possession with my Vitamix.  This foodie is set up.

The hubs got an Xbox 360 with Kinect - he's a little behind the gaming - and luckily it was a win!  He isn't a huge gamer, but I'm sure that's about to change.  He joked that I'm going to regret getting it for him.  I think he just divorced me and married his Xbox.

Pat and Uncle Tyler have been playing Madden for the past few hours.  You better believe I'm getting some fitness games for Kinect.  I haven't been this fat since I was pregnant.  I have been indulging a little too much.   Okay, a lot.

Any suggestions for some fun and effective fitness games for Kinect?

Flawless Face

I've been a little M.I.A in the Youtuberverse.  Yes, I did just make up a word.  I have filmed this video four times.  All but this one were failures.  The first time I was out of focus, then my lighting sucked, and during my third attempt my battery died.  I think I finally found a little spot in my bedroom where I get some natural light.  I don't have any fancy lights, and dammit a girl has to work with what she has.  I'm pretty sure this applies to everything in a woman's world.  At least it does in mine.

I get questions on how I do my face makeup so I decided to make a lil' tutorial.  This is not what I use everyday.  Only for special occasions, but I decided to go all out for the purpose of the video.  I'm thinking of making an everyday makeup look.  What do you think?

FYI: I forgot to mention this in the video, but make sure you you bring your foundation down into your neck to help blend everything!

Secret Santa

I participated in my first ever Secret Santa gift swap this year.  I guess that kinda makes sense if Glam Hungry Mom isn't even a year old.  Whomp Whomp.

I have no idea who sent mine still, but I sent my package to the inspiring Brittany over at Bee Littlequeen Blog.  I hope she likes the goodies I sent!

I loved my box!  A girl can never have too many fuzzy socks in the winter.  Am I right?  I actually squealed when I saw the candy cane kisses.  I'm so addicted, but I've had to restrain myself from buying them.  I could eat that whole bag in one sitting.  I think I have a problem with food addictions/obsessions.  Is there a food addicts anonymous?  I think I need to attend some meetings.

Clearly my secret santa knew I'm obsessed with sweets.  I received chocolate goodies, yummy body wash, and spicy hot cinnamon candle.

Whoever my secret santa is:  Thank you!

Couples Gift Guide

Still trying to figure out what to get your coupled up friends?  I have some great last minute gift ideas for your favorite couples.

1.  Home Cable Knit Throw - Throws are the perfect excuse for couples to cuddle and enjoy quality time together.  I personally don't think anyone could have enough throws, especially when the one given comes in the style of a gender-friendly, classic cable-knit.

2.  Tasting Room Taste Explorer Wine Club Membership - You can gift your friends as many months as you like.  They will love being able to sample a bevy of wines, and if they like they can purchase their favorite.  It's a great way to sample different varieties without investing in a whole bottle.  Your friends will love the surprise element and thoughtfulness of a wine club membership.

3.  Knead Me Massage Set - (Note: link is NSFW) First, let me say the packaging is so beautiful and elegant.  This massage kit is a great way for couples to really enjoy their time together.  The dark vanilla scented candle melts into a silky massage oil perfect for pairing with the Contour M.  My favorite part of the Contour M is it's ability to be warmed (like a hot stone massage) or cooled.  The rounded top could be used for application as well as the four nodes.  Trust me this gift will be used.

4.  Spa Finder Gift Card - Want to give a little freedom of choice?  Obviously Spa Finder gift cards can be used for spas, but they can also be used for yoga, Pilates, and fitness studios worldwide.

5.  MoMa Design Store 2-Carat Mugs - Bring a piece of New York City to your favorite couple in the form of this whimsical mug sure to bring a smile on their face.  When your friends open the box they will only see the ring, then when they pull it out they will see the cute mug.  It's great for coffee and tea lovers alike.

Don't forget to enter my Anjolee Diamond Giveaway.

Disclaimer: The Knead Me Massage Set was gifted to me but all opinions are 100% honest and my own.  It's beautiful!

Who doesn't love a little sparkle in their life?  No one.  That's who.  I have a stunning pendant to giveaway from Anjolee - The Art of Jewelry.  Before I do that let me let tell you a little about them.

My personal favorite aspect of Anjolee is the ability to customize your diamond jewelry exactly how you want it.  They care about their customers wants and needs.  You want 14k gold? Platinum? No problem.  How about clarity?  Pick what fits in your budget!  Have small or big wrists?  Anjolee can adjust the length of an item to fit your desires.

Does your special someone need ideas for a gift for you?  How about any of their smashing diamond earrings?  They are classic, but with the variety of styles you can make it "you."

Christmas is almost here and Valentine's Day is right around the corner.  Why not give the gift of diamonds?

It's giveaway time!  I'm seriously jealous I can't enter!  The necklace is beyond beautiful.  The Surrounded by Sparkle Diamond Pendant, crafted in silver, is .44 carats with an emerald center stone of high quality cubic zirconia.  Anjolee only crafts their jewelry in gold or platinum and diamonds, but for the sake of a giveaway it is done quite elegantly.

Avocado Chicken Parm

I found a recipe for Chicken Avocado Parmigiana on Pinterest and had to try it.  The chicken is baked, not fried, without losing any flavor.  I did a little improvisation, and it turned out great.

I realize my picture isn't the prettiest, and I should have made the avocado smaller.  To be honest I wasn't even planning on putting this on the blog until it was done.  It doesn't matter because it was delcious!

Ingredients:

  • 2 chicken breasts, halved lengthwise
  • 2 teaspoon coconut oil
  • 3/4 cup panko
  • 3/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup coconut flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 2 avocados, sliced
  • 1/2 cup pizza or mozzarella cheese
  • salt and pepper, to taste
Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Place parchment paper on baking sheet, set aside.
  3. If chicken breast is larger than 1/4 inch thick after being halved, place in plastic bag and pound till correct size.  I use the back of a frying pan.  I really need to purchase a meat mallet.
  4. Combine panko, breadcrumbs, and italian seasoning in a bowl.
  5. Melt coconut oil in a small skillet, then add breadcrumb mixture.  Stir often until lightly browned.
  6. Place bread crumbs on a plate, beaten eggs in a bowl, and coconut flour in a separate plate.
  7. Salt and pepper both sides of chicken breast.
  8. Coat chicken with flour making sure to shake off excess, dip chicken into egg, then evenly coat chicken with breadcrumb mixture and gently place on baking sheet.
  9. Repeat with rest of chicken breasts.
  10. Place baking sheet with chicken in the oven for 10 minutes. Turn chicken about halfway through.
  11. Remove from oven and spoon marinara sauce evenly over each breast.  Add sliced avocados, then sprinkle cheese.  Feel free to add as much cheese as desired.
  12. Place back in oven for about 5-10 minutes until chicken is throughly cooked and cheese is melted.

Silence and Support For The Angels of Sandy Hook

I came across a really wonderful post from Living In Yellow that I had to share.  I hope you do too.  After the horrors of yesterday nothing will be the same.  However, if we could at least be a support for the victims it would be more than an honor.

To the Blog World and Anyone Else who Wants to Help,

Yesterday, tragedy struck so many of us in ways we did not foresee. An elementary school and small town in Connecticut was shattered by a mass shooting. We knew we wanted to help and we came up with this:

On Tuesday, December 18th, there will be a blogger day of silence.
We will post the button and that's it. Please try to not post anything else that day if possible.

We are also raising money that will go to an organization in the memory of this tragedy. The organization is called The Newtown Family Youth and Family Services. Here is the official description of the support service we are donating to:

"Newtown Youth and Family Services, Inc. is a licensed, non-profit, mental health clinic and youth services bureau dedicated to helping children and families achieve their highest potential. NYFS provides programs, services, activities, counseling, support groups and education throughout the Greater Newtown area.

ANY DONATIONS MADE TO NEWTOWN YOUTH AND FAMILY SERVICES WILL BE DONATED DIRECTLY TO THOSE EFFECTED BY THE SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SHOOTING."

Please visit THIS PAGE to make your donation.

We can't imagine how they must be feeling, especially this close to the holidays. We would love for you to spread the word on your own blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Let's make a difference and use blogging in a positive way. Thank you in advance for participating.

Love,
The Blog World

p.s. If you would like to, copy-paste and repost any part of this, please do. Share on.

Is Nowhere Safe?

I can barely type this.  After I read about the Connecticut Elementary School Shooting I just sat there staring at my computer screen.  How can this be real?

Last I read over 27 people were killed, mostly children.  As a mother this hit me really hard.  I can't stop holding my son and telling him I love him.  Even more than I already do.  An elementary school is one of those "sacred" places you wouldn't imagine such a horror would take place.  Dedicated teachers and innocent children's lives were taken for no reason.  No reason.  School is where our children are supposed to be safe, nurture their minds, and grow as people.  School isn't supposed to be a place where we fear the worst.

What compelled someone to do this?  How does a parent even try to explain what happened?  I'm so sad and heartbroken.

We need to be sure to tell the ones we love how much we care.  You never can predict the future.  We need to treat everyday as our last and show love.  I will pray for the victims, the children who had to witness what happened, and everyone affected.
