This post is brought to you by GNC and The Motherhood. All opinions are my own.
If you have been following my blog or social media accounts then you know that I have been slowly losing my baby weight. During the holidays I gained a good ten pounds back so now I have been having a protein smoothie daily for my post-workout or meal replacement. You guys know I love green smoothies! I’m also trying to incorporate more vegetarian/vegan foods into my life and this recipe fits the bill.
I’m pretty hard to please when it comes to protein powders and I am pleased to know there are so many great vegan protein powders on GNC shelves. There is nothing I hate more than the taste from artificial sweeteners or flavors. I’ve never been able to convince myself it tastes good. Lucky for me plant-based proteins are a great option to support lean muscle and total body health. Brown rice, pea, hemp, and soy are all great sources of plant proteins found at GNC. Right now I am using GNC PUREDGE™ Complete Vegan Protein. It contains 20g of protein and 10g of aminos from five plant-based sources with no soy, gluten, or dairy.
I use the vanilla flavor but I think it’s time to try out some chocolate proteins! Here’s how I make my breakfast or post-workout smoothie:
- 1/2 cup almond milk
- 1/2 cup frozen fruit (I use mangos, strawberries, and peaches)
- 1/2 banana
- 1 serving Vanilla GNC PUREDGE™ Complete Vegan Protein
- handful of spinach or kale
- 1 tsp honey
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- (optional) 2 tsp goji berries
- Add all ingredients in blender
- Mix together
- Pour in a glass and top with goji berries
