Family movie night is hands down our favorite day of the week. It’s a foolproof way to spend time as a family and make memories. We like to mix up our snacks and always serve sparkling apple cider. It’s Damian’s number one request and makes the evening even more special. If you couldn’t tell by the title, our movie of choice was Minions © 2015 Universal Studios. All rights reserved. We didn’t get a chance to watch it in theaters, and Damian was literally counting down till we could purchase the dvd. It was cute, entertaining, and had humor for both parents and kids. I classify it as a family movie rather than a kid one. Minions has been on repeat ever since we first played it, and I ain’t mad at it!
I decided to make a super cute snack mix everyone in the family would love inspired by Illumination Entertainment’s Minions. I even added their goggles!
Make sure you order the Minions movie Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack to watch while snacking on my Minions Munchies!
To start making the Minions Munch preheat the oven at 350 degrees, and have some freshly popped popcorn ready in a large bowl.
In a small saucepan, melt together butter, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Alternatively, you could melt the mixture in the microwave. Be sure to use 30% power in 20 second intervals and stir often. Evenly pour the mixture over the popcorn and mix well.
Spread the popcorn mixture on a lined baking sheet and bake for 5 minutes.
In a large bowl combine the popcorn mixture, pretzels, chocolate covered candy, and edible eyeballs.
- 1 bag of homestyle popcorn, popped
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1 1/2 cup mini pretzels
- 1 cup chocolate covered candy (I picked out the blue and yellow ones to match the theme)
- 1 ounce edible eyes
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- In a small saucepan, combine butter, sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Stir occasionally until melted.
- Place fresh popcorn in a large bowl. Pour butter mixture over the top and toss until evenly coated.
- Spread popcorn mixture in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake for 5 minutes.
- Place popcorn in a bowl and combine with pretzels, chocolate covered candies, and edible eyes. Stir until well mixed.
Simply lay oversized comfortable pillows and blankets on the floor, pour some sparkling cider (or your kid’s favorite drink), and enjoy watching the Minions while eating your Minions Munch. My goal as a mom is to make every moment as memorable as possible. I think I achieved that since my coconuts keep asking when the next movie night is. Now that is what makes this mama’s heart soar.
I hope you guys like this recipe as much as my family does. Check out more delicious recipes inspired by the Minions movie release.
